How long will it take for me to get my portrait?
The time your portrait takes to complete is based on the media used and complexity of the portrait.
Digital portraits are usually completed in a few hours, however, they are often spread out over 3-7 days as I'll work on them in shorter periods of time, often in between other things like my babies naps.

Acrylic paintings often take between 10-25+ hrs depending on the size and complexity. Work is often spread out over several weeks.

Your portrait wait time will also be subject to my wait list which can be up to 4-6 months depending on the time of year. I care for my children full time and complete art in the rest of my time (naps and after bedtime) which does mean I'm limited in the number of portraits I can complete. Should you need a specific date please contact me to determine whether or not that date can be achieved.

Time to getting your portrait is also dependent on shipping times.

Yes I do! Pickup can be arranged within the Southern Tier, NY area. Please contact me before placing your order.
Why do acrylic paintings take so long and cost more?
Acrylic paintings have a lot of prep work before even starting any work. Time is spent adjusting photos (if needed), preparing multiple mockups to ensure proper size and placement on the canvas, research on background colors, preparing the canvas with gesso (primer) and transfer of the image to the canvas.

Once your canvas is prepped I begin with the background and often need to literally wait for paint to dry! Mixing paints, and applying paint to canvas all take time. Your portrait is built up in layers and depending on those layers I either need to wait for more paint to dry or I'm spending time painting details such as each blade of fur. The cost of acrylic paintings cover the materials costs and time spent both painting and preparing to paint. All of this time translates into a portrait that looks as real as your photo.
Where do your prints come from?
All prints are now created in-house using an Epson Sure Color printer and archival inks and papers. Each print is printed per order.

Digital prints are printed on Ultra Premium Matte paper. This paper's matte finish is ideal for digital creations.

Art reproduction prints are printer on Ultra Premium Luster paper for more defined colors and detail from the original art.

Do I need a professional photo of my pet?
Nope! That's the beauty of a custom pet portrait. I'm able to take your photos and transform them into contemporary art your proud to display in your home!

Now some photos do make better portraits then others. Image quality is top priority. Though I can use older, dull or blurry photos to create art of your pet, but I'm limited to the detail I can see. To ensure an amazing portrait it helps to be able to see as much detail as possible so I can translate that into paint. Don't stress about the image not being a photographer quality image, a simple photo from your camera roll that highlights their personality is all that I need! If you're not sure what will make a great portrait I recommend sending lots of photos so we can work together to create amazing art of your pet.
Can you put multiple pets in one portrait?
Digital portraits - no, at this time I am not offering multiple pets on the same image to avoid an over crowded portrait. If you are looking to get additional pets done you will receive the second pet at a reduced rate when ordered at the same time, but they will be printed on two seperate pieces of paper for individual framing.

Paintings - Yes, depending on the selected size I can accommodate multiple pets. Please contact me to discuss prior to ordering so we can create the best looking portrait possible.
Can you add or remove things from my portrait?
Of course! Additional reference images may be required and additions/ subtractions are subject to the request and possible additional charge.
Does the background of my photo matter?
No, the background of your photo doesn't impact your portrait.
I offer two choices of background.

-
Abstract Splatter - my signature style, no two are alike!
-
Traditional - solid color background

You let me know what color you'd like! Think about what's going to look best with your décor. If you aren't sure what will be the best colors you can leave it up to me! I'll use information you provide me to reference suitable color palettes that will accentuate your pets natural fur color.

I create my backgrounds using a variety of techniques and no two are ever the same. Check out my gallery to see examples of backgrounds and let me know if one speaks to you and I can use it as reference. I often have the most fun when clients leave the backgrounds up to me as it give me room to experiment and play and come up with something truly special!

Interested in something else? That's ok too! I can do specific backgrounds on request or use the background from the photo, additional charges may be required for additional painting time/ materials. Please contact me to discuss!
